President's Message

Call to Action

Calling all NTDEA members to come and support their professional organization.
NTDEA officers have been busy working up budget proposals, accurate membership lists, acquiring continuing education units, programs, news articles, and activities.

Now is the time for all members to mark their calendars for 2007-2008 NTDEA events and make plans to participate in each.  NTDEA needs your continued support throughout the year in order to become a vibrant organization.   This is the group which promotes its professional abilities within the realm of diabetes education as DIABETES EDUCATORS residing in North Texas.   Remember, regular scheduled meetings are 4th Tuesday every other month beginning September 25.

Draw a red circle around November 13, 2007.  NTDEA has received a grant providing program, speaker, continuing education units, and dinner at Pappadeux in Arlington.  Reservations are for 40 people who are involved with Diabetes Education for this free event.  We scheduled this meeting earlier in the month to prevent an overlap in holiday plans.   Reservations are required; therefore, make your reservations early and encourage other members and guest to do likewise.  Email your reservations to nevapoole@verizon.net no later than 3 business days before November 13.  (You will be receiving more information in October.)

Other events scheduled are:

Tuesday, September 25th – “Update on Bariatric Surgeries” with Robert Sewell, MD, FACS  - Southlake, TX. No CEs available, just valuable learning, relationship building, sharing and fun.

Tuesday, November 13th – “The Earlier Use of Insulin in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes” a NovoNordisk® grant sponsored program  - Pappadeaux’s in Arlington – dinner meal and CEs provided - 1.5 CEs for nurses, 2.0 CPEUs for dietitians and 1.5 contact hours for pharmacists.

Friday, February 22nd and Saturday, February 23rd  - NTDEA Spring Seminar (2 days) “Coaching Your Obese Client’s Behavior, Healthy Nutrition and Activity” - Arlington Memorial Hospital – 12-13 CEs for RNs, RDs, Life Coaches, Counselors, and Personal Trainers.

Look forward to seeing each of you and many thanks for your support.

Sincerely,

Neva Poole
NTDEA President
